Our School

With the mountains as a backdrop, Wilmot Elementary is a PreK-5th grade public school serving about 400 students in the mountain community of Evergreen. As part of the Jefferson County public school district, Wilmot follows the Colorado Academic Standards which align with the national Common Core standards. Teachers vetted several different English-Language Arts curriculums recommended by the state of Colorado and by Jeffco Public Schools for implementation in the 22-23 school year. The staff voted unanimously to adopt EL Education based on the quality of reading materials, structure aligned with the Science of Reading, strong writing instructional components, and the integration of social emotional learning. The three tenets of EL Education are Mastery of Knowledge and Skills, High Quality Student Work, and Character. The focus on Character fits nicely with Wilmot's values of Generosity, Integrity, Responsibility and Respect. In mathematics, teachers use a variety of materials to teach each of the state standards for their grade level. As a leader in education, Wilmot is a multi-year recipient of the John Irwin School of Excellence Award which recognizes Colorado schools that demonstrate exceptional academic achievements. In addition, the Green Team Superheroes gained national attention by receiving the President’s Environmental Youth award for putting Wilmot at the forefront of sustainability.
