What is Instructional Coaching?
"Instructional coaches partner with teachers to help them improve teaching and learning so students are more successful. To do this, ICs collaborate with teachers to get a clear picture of current reality, identify goals, pick teaching strategies to meet the goals, monitor progress, and problem solve until the goals are met." - Jim Knight
My belief about instructional coaching is based on a growth mindset and a confidential partnership. This includes working side by side to improve student achievement through a variety of interactions.
I Believe:
Education “requires continuous inquiry and improvement” (Taking the Lead, pg. 43, 2nd ed.).
All teachers and students are able to grow and learn.
All teachers should identify the focus for their coaching cycle.
Coaching is a confidential partnership.
